Brannagan, a native of Burlington, Ontario, played at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, where last year he led the Gaels to their first Vanier Cup title since 1992.

The 23-year-old passed for 24 touchdowns in 2008 and was the leading passer in school history with a 62.14 percent completion rate.
